Founded in 2003 by stylist Victoria Bartlett, VPL and its undergarment-inspired apparel blurs the line between lingerie and sportswear. Designed to mix and match, and layer over and under other garments, VPL's collection of utilitarian-chic pieces are sexy but also comfortable and chic. Trims, stitching, and construction techniques take cues from architectural elements, vintage silhouettes, and utilitarian details. Three years after VPL's debut, and now with full a ready-to-wear collection, Bartlett and her business partner Kikka Hanazawa received the Ecco Domani award in 2006. The following year the duo were named finalists for both the Fashion Group International Rising Star Award as well as the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.
