After helping found menswear line Trovata, designers and college friends Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos relocated to New York in search of a fresh start. In 2008, their eponymous line debuted to rave reviews for its simple pieces that speak more to fit and fine materials than to trends. Since founding their line, the duo has shown seasonally during New York Fashion Week and collaborated with other designers like Philip Crangi, Loeffler Randall, Repetto, and Moscot. Both designers are active members of the CFDA and sit on the board of the Scholarship Committee. In 2008, Shipley & Halmos received the Young Designer Award from the National Arts Club in 2008.
