Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison launched their eponymous line in 1991. Though Sigerson hails from Nebraska and Morrison calls London home, fate brought them both to New York, and a mutual love for footwear signed them up for the same shoe design course at FIT. Known for original shoe designs that bridge the gap between swinging '60s influences and motor chic, the Sigerson Morrison label has found itself a growing international following. Following the line's relocation to New York's trendy Nolita neighborhood, the duo won the CFDA award for best accessory design in 1997. A few years later in 2000, the designers opened their first flagship store, followed by the opening of a Los Angeles location in 2002, and a boutique in Tokyo in 2003. In addition to continually developing their main collection of innovative shoe designs and fashion-forward aesthetic, Sigerson and Morrison also launched BELLE, a line of lower-priced shoes, and Rain or Shine, a collection of rubber ballet flats and rain boots.
