Integrity and dedication remain the heart of Jen Kao's design philosophy. Kao was born Los Angeles, raised in Kansas City, and moved to New York to attend New York University. After graduating with a bachelors of science in studio arts, Kao earned her post-doctorate degree from Parsons School of Design. She honed her skills with several admirable designers before launching her eponymous line in 2007. Inspired by her family, namely her grandmother who was born in Taiwan under Japanese influence, Kao infuses her line with traditional crafts, artistry, and Japanese folklore. Pieces in her collection are created using intricate form, often feature opposing elements, and are never without precise detailing.
