In 2002, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright established rag & bone with the design philosophy to make clothes they and their friends would want to wear every day. Since neither Neville nor Wainwright had any formal fashion training, the pair headed for Kentucky where they learned the skills it took to craft a pair of denim jeans. The time spent there taught Neville and Wainwright the importance of quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail, principles they would later apply to their own label. In 2004, rag & bone launched a full men's line, followed by a women's line in 2005 and accessories in 2007. The collection is a refreshing take on modern sportswear with a heavy influence from British tailoring and classic heritage craftsmanship.
