Low Impact

Purposefully Made

Processes that strive to find more earth-friendly ways of producing materials, including working to avoid or reduce the use of genetically modified seeds, certain pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or processes that generate excessive water pollution during production. Can also include materials or products that hold independent certifications related to good environmental, social, or animal welfare practices, such as cotton certified under the Global Organic Textile Standard, viscose certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, or wool certified to meet the Responsible Wool Standard.

Recycled

Recycled products are made by processes that convert consumer waste, such as scraps of fiber or plastic bottles, into reusable material, which in turn can be reprocessed into new products.

Responsible Manufacturing

Responsible manufacturing focuses on improving the workplace conditions under which a brand's products are made or the environmental impact that may result from the manufacturing proceses. This category may include products that are locally made within the brand's own community or country, as well as artisan made, supporting traditional or age-old techniques.
